If the quantity of Rebel Moon We already have It wasn’t enough somehowas he usually does, Zack Snyder found room for more. Today, the director confirmed that both expanded editions of his Netflix sci-fi duology will be released on the same day this summer, all the better to numb your lower half through the chaos of the streaming marathon.

Both Rebel Moon the director’s cuts – now, of course, archly retitled as Chapter One: Chalice of Blood And Chapter two: Curse of Forgiveness– will be released on Netflix on August 2, and with some additional details on Snyder’s additions to each film have been confirmed (not even their runtimes, which, given the director’s past history with the Director’s Cut concept, will likely go long). All that’s promised so far by the streamer is that each film will “deepen the chaos and mythology” of Snyder’s work and offer “viciously sexier and bloodier” interpretations of the original films. Check out a few more images from the extended montage, which certainly don’t look particularly sexier or bloodier, at least not viciously so, than what you can already get out of the films.

But hey, at least there’s more Anthony Hopkins cool robot guy! It’s funny.

Time will tell, of course, whether either will manage to improve on the many flaws and frustrations of the original films – or if, perhaps, they can one day match Snyder’s history with the Justice League elongated cut, now that he’s apparently making Director’s Cuts a habit. No doubt we’ll see more as we get closer to Chalice of Blood And Curse of Forgiveness arrived on Netflix in August.
