Willem Dafoe is the latest bold name to join the cast of Beetle Juice 2.
The feature film from Warner Bros. began production this week with Tim Burton, who directed the original 1988 film, back in the director’s chair.

Jenna Ortega leads the cast with Michael Keaton reprising his role as the obnoxious ghost, while Winona Ryder also returns, playing Ortega’s mother. Catherine O’Hara is also among the returnees, while Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci are among the newcomers.
While plot details are kept six feet under, Dafoe is understood to play a law enforcement officer in the afterlife.
Warners announced on Tuesday that the feature film will be released on September 6, 2024, picking up the date from Marvel’s. Bladewhich halted pre-production last week due to the writers’ strike.
Production Beetle Juice 2 are the Plan B of Burton and Brad Pitt, among others. Al Gough and Miles Millar, creators of the star Ortega Wednesday Netflix series, wrote the screenplay.
Dafoe’s recent credits include Robert Eggers The man from the north and reprising his fan-favorite role as Norman Osborne, aka Green Goblin, in Spider-Man: No Coming Home. Upcoming movies include Wes Anderson Asteroid City, premiere in Cannes, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. Among the boxed films is Nosferatusthe vampiric thriller that reteams him with Eggers.
It is replaced by WME and Circle of Confusion.
