Investing.com – British stocks were higher at Friday’s close as gains in sectors , and propelled stocks higher.
At the close in London, the rise of 0.73%.
The biggest winners from the session on the were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:), which rose 3.51% or 167.00 points to trade at 4,925.00 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:) added 3.02% or 67.00 points to end at 2,287.00 and antofagasta PLC (LON:) was up 2.93% or 39.50 points at 1,389.50 late in the session.
Biggest Losers Included Land titles Group PLC (LON:), which fell 2.51% or 15.40 points to trade at 599.00 late in the session. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:) fell 1.96% or 1.59 points to end at 79.47 and British land Company PLC (LON:) lost 1.93% or 6.80 points to 345.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered falling stocks by 876 to 849 and 518 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, gold futures for June delivery rose 0.07% or 1.35 to $1,945.05 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for July delivery rose 0.85% or 0.61 to $72.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0. 44 to trade at $76.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% at 1.24, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.21% at 0.87.
US dollar index futures fell 0.03% to 104.15.
