Tears from realm champion leathers give juicy information about the enemy

Once again, Link begins his journey barely clothed inot The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Although there are a few pieces of clothing near where Link starts in the large tutorial area, with an OP shield, I was hoping for a specific article from the start. I’m talking about the Champion Tunic, which you can use to see an enemy’s exact HP gauge, i.e. with numbers rather than the bar. Additionally, you can upgrade this tears of the kingdom gear with the Great Fairies.

In breath of the wild, it was pretty easy to get. You will get Impa’s Champion Tunic in Kakariko Village after completing the first Captured Memories mission. It can be done quite early in the game, so I was surprised that such a classic outfit wasn’t so easy to get this time around. It has also been upgraded to Champion Leathers.

There’s actually a clue to where to find the Champion Leathers in Zelda’s Secret Well behind Link’s house (no, you’re not the only one ask questions about their cohabitation). In the secret cellar you will find Zelda’s journal, which you can read. This tells you where to find Champion Leathers and starts the side quest “A New Champion Tunic”.

Link reads Zelda's journal hinting at the location of the new and improved Champion Tunic.

“No matter where I go to offer help, Link stays by my side – a kindness that had a visible impact on these clothes,” reads Zelda’s journal. “That’s why I ordered a new and improved champion’s tunic, just for him. I just can’t wait to see the look on his face when I surprise him with this! I’ll hide it in the throne room so he won’t find it until after we investigate. Even he would never expect torches to be the key.

So Hyrule Castle throne room, torches. Got it. Unfortunately, Hyrule Castle is a little taller than it once was. There are several ways to get to Hyrule Castle by tears of the kingdom. You can glide from Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, though you need more than just one stamina circle, or you can use a Zonai contraption to gain height. You can also use the Zora armor to swim in the waterfalls, which can come in handy. I made my way above Skyview Tower, and ate energy food to recharge my stamina halfway through. You’ll want to land right next to the main entrance, from there you can just walk in. The throne will be elevated across the room with stairs extending left and right. There are two braziers in front of the throne. Light them, either with flint or with fire fruits attached to arrows. Once both are lit, the statue behind the throne will move, revealing a chest below. Inside you will find the champion leathers.

Looks like Zelda hooked you up with a fancy leather shoulder pad. It still has a base defense of 5, however.
