“I will make the border impermeable,” Kennedy said. “We cannot release people, illegal aliens across the border.”

“But we also need to recognize that this is a humanitarian crisis, and we need to correct the policies that caused this mass migration, including decades of US foreign policy that imposed austerity on these governments, neoliberal policies that encouraged the rise of the military junta dictatorship that trained and supported death squads in Central American countries,” Kennedy continued.

MIGRANT NUMBERS RISE AT SOUTHERN BORDER HOURS BEFORE END OF TITLE 42

Migrants could be seen arriving on the Mexican side of the US-Mexico border early Thursday, just hours before President Biden’s administration ends Title 42.

On Thursday, members of the Texas National Guard could be seen patrolling along the barbed wire fences of the border fence in El Paso. Maj. Sean Storrud of the Texas National Guard reported groups of migrants ranging from a few dozen to more than 200, saying they were waiting for Title 42 to expire.

Storrud said little is likely to change in terms of process in his border area, where officials operate under Title 8 rather than Title 42. Still, large numbers of migrants believe otherwise.

“A lot of them are still waiting there because they just don’t know what’s going to happen when Title 42 ends,” Storrud told Fox News. “They’ve been fed a lot of misinformation from social media, from cartels, from well-meaning people. And they have so much information that when we tell them about the implications of Title 8, they just don’t know what to believe. But they know they’re here now, and they’re willing to wait, even knowing after we tell them what they’re doing is illegal.

The Major says he remains confident that his team can maintain control of their section of the border even as Title 42 ends.

“I can tell you that we are ready. I have great soldiers here in the field. And that’s the other thing I would like to say. My soldiers are citizen soldiers of the Army National Guard Texas. We’re not just defending the United States border here, but the Texas border, where my soldiers live, and the El Paso border, where more than a third of my soldiers live. So they’re defending their city native,” he said.
