Motorola Razr 2024 vs Motorola Razr Plus 2024

Today, Motorola unveiled its popular Razr flip phones, the Razr 2024 and Razr Plus 2024. Both models feature larger external displays than last year’s versions, with the Razr’s screen size being 2.5 times larger than the Razr 2023. While they have nearly the same dimensions and leather finish, they come in different colors and offer distinct features. The Razr retails for $699.99while the The Razr Plus costs $999.99. Pre-orders begin July 10 and sales begin July 24.

Design and colors

Once opened, the The Razr Plus measures 171.42mm, slightly larger and 0.16 mm thinner than the Razr, what measures 171.30 mmThe Razr is also one gram lighter, at 188g. The Razr is available in Koala Grey, Beach Sand, and Spritz Orange. For Razr Plus color options, see the Razr Plus article.

External display

Aside from the colors, the main difference is the screen size: the Razr has a 3.6-inch display with a resolution of 1056×1066, while the Razr Plus has a 4-inch display with 1272×1080. Both feature LTPO pOLED technology, but the Razr’s maximum refresh rate is 90Hz compared to 165Hz for the Plus. The Razr’s maximum brightness is 1700 nits, while the Razr Plus tops out at 3000 nits.

Internal display

Both phones feature a 6.9-inch pOLED LTPO internal display with a resolution of 2640×1080 and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. The Razr’s maximum refresh rate is 120Hz, while the Plus tops out at 165Hz.

Cameras

The Razr and Razr Plus feature dual external cameras and a 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera. The 50MP f/1.7 primary camera is the same on both models. However, the secondary optics differ: the Razr retains a 13MP wide-angle macro camera, while the Plus has a 50MP telephoto camera with 2X zoom and an f/2.2 aperture. The Razr captures 4K video at 30fps, while the Razr Plus supports 60fps in 4K and slow motion.

Processor and performance

The Razr is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC with 8GB of RAM, which is designed for dual-screen support in foldable phones. The Razr Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM.

Instead of looking at the eight Arm-based cores and the clock speeds of the two processors to see which one offers the best performance, we’ll run the tests on the devices. The results will be published at a later date.

Battery

Both devices feature a 4,200mAh battery. The Razr supports 30W TurboPower charging and 15W wireless charging, while the Razr Plus offers 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging.

Pricing and Availability

The Motorola Razr 2024 will be available for preorder from T-Mobile on July 10. Starting July 24, the unlocked device will be available on motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy for $699.99. It will also go on sale at T-Mobile, Consumer Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile on July 24, and on July 25 at Cricket, Spectrum Mobile, Straight Talk, Total by Verizon, Visible, Google Fi Wireless, Optimum Mobile, and UScellular. Boost Mobile will begin selling the device later this summer.
