By Aayush Khanna

The Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) 2023-24 Series-IV public subscription opens today, 12 February 2024, and runs until 16 February 2024, with issuance slated for 21 February 2024. The Union finance ministry, acting through the RBI, announced that SGBs will be available through scheduled commercial banks, designated post offices, and recognized stock exchanges like NSE and BSE.

Eligible investors encompass individual residents, including Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), registered trusts, universities acknowledged by UGC, and charitable institutions with valid 80G registration. However, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) are excluded from investing, while minors can invest through guardians.

Investors can subscribe through internet banking by following a few simple steps: log in, register if new, enter scheme details, provide depository participant information, fill out the registration form, select purchase option, input subscription quantity and nominee details, and complete the process by entering the one-time password (OTP) sent to their registered mobile number.

This streamlined process facilitates easy participation in the SGB scheme, providing investors with an opportunity to invest in bonds in a hassle-free manner.
