HONOR showcased the four-layer AI architecture and Google partnership at VivaTech 2024

George ZhaoCEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd, delivered a speech at VivaTech 2024 in Paris last week to announce HONOR’s Four-Layer AI Architecture and to come Gen-AI experiments with Google Cloud. Through its innovative approach to on-device AI and its collaboration with Google, the phone maker promises to improve the user experience on its highly anticipated smartphones. He also unveiled HONOR’s partnership with the iconic Harcourt studio, famous for its black and white portraits of movie stars.

THE Four-layer AI architecture focuses on the integration of AI into MagicOS, its operating system. This architecture includes four distinct layers: the Cross-device and Cross-OS AI at the base layer allow users to share computing power and services across devices and operating systems. Platform-level AI aims to provide a personalized operating system that enables intent-based user interface and personalized resource allocation. THE Application-level AI will offer a wide range of Gen-AI applications, and at the top, the Interface to Cloud-AI services The layer provides access to AI-based cloud services. Each layer helps create a holistic AI experience, enabling personalized interactions, resource allocation and access to cloud services while prioritizing user privacy.

Magic portal, a characteristic of MagicOS 8.0 nicknamed “the industry’s first intent-based user interface”, simplifies complex tasks based on user behavior. With support for numerous applications in various scenarios, Magic Portal aims to provide seamless and intelligent AI experiences.

During the opening speech, George Zhao announced that the next HONOR 200 Series smartphone will revolutionize portrait photography with AI-enhanced capabilities inspired by Studio Harcourt, renowned for his iconic portraits. By leveraging AI to replicate Studio Harcourt’s process of lighting and shadow effects, the HONOR 200 series promises to ensure studio-quality portraits with every shot. The smartphone will be launched in Paris on June 12thstay tuned for more information.

Additionally, HONOR’s commitment to the democratization of AI extends to its MagicOS 8.0 deploymentreaching a wider audience through compatibility with its HONOR Magic V2 and HONOR 90 devices. The move aligns with HONOR’s human-centered design philosophy, which prioritizes user empowerment and privacy in integrating AI across devices.

During the event, a panel discussion explored the future of multimodal interaction, emphasizing the potential of in-device AI to improve convenience and privacy..
