Geely’s LEVC L380 has opened pre-orders in China for $280

Geely Group’s LEVC L380 electric minivan (MPV) has opened pre-orders with a refundable deposit of 2,000 yuan (US$280). This 5.3 meter multi-purpose vehicle from the former British brand will begin sales in China this year. Additionally, it will enter the UK market in the next two years.

LEVC stands for London Electric Vehicle Company. It derives from the famous British London Taxi Company, founded in 1919. This British taxi manufacturer was acquired by Geely in 2012 and focused on manufacturing BEV and EREV cars. By 2023, LEVC accounted for over 50% of all licensed taxis in London. The LEVC model range includes a single car called the TX. Soon the second model, L380, will enter the Chinese market.

LEVC L380 pre-orders

On May 21, the LEVC L380 became available for pre-order in China. Chinese buyers can reserve this minivan for a refundable deposit of just 2,000 yuan (US$280). These customers will be given priority after deliveries begin. LEVC will also give early customers traditional Hainanese bracelets as souvenirs. Back to the LEVC L380, its price range has not been specified. But LEVC emphasized that it can offer a variety of seating configurations, from 3 to 8 seats.

Previously, the LEVC L380 started mass production at the LEVC New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd factory in Zhejiang, China. The same manufacturing plant also assembles the LEVC TX cabin. During the official ceremony, it was revealed that the LEVC L380 will enter the Chinese market this year and will be available for purchase in the UK within the next two years.

The LEVC L380 is a large van with modern styling. Its front part has a short and elegant hood, an LED strip and headlights integrated into the front bumper. In terms of appearance, it is slightly reminiscent of the Li Mega MPV. However, the L380 is easily distinguished by a high beltline and flat roof. Inside, the LEVC L380 has up to 8 seats in a 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 layout. The second and third rows of seats feature independent captain’s chairs.

The LEVC L380 is based on the SOA platform derived from the SEA architecture. It has impressive dimensions of 5,316/1,998/1,940 mm with a wheelbase of 3,185 mm. The LEVC L380 also offers three powertrain options:

  • 200 kW electric motor, 170 km/h top speed, 100 kWh ternary NMC battery, 570 km range
  • 200 kW electric motor, 170 km/h top speed, 116 kWh ternary NMC battery, 675 km range
  • Two 400 kW electric motors, top speed of 180 km/h, 140 kWh NMC battery, range of 785 km

Previously, LEVC said the L380 could cover 200 km in 10 minutes. It will take 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. We’ll be closely monitoring future L380 updates, so stay tuned!
