jurassic park star Sam Neil revealed he was undergoing treatment for angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in a March 17, 2023 interview with The Guardian. “I can’t pretend the last year didn’t have its dark moments,” the 75-year-old actor told the publication of his journey from diagnosis, to treatment, to recovery. “But those dark times bring light into the light, you know, and made me grateful for each day and immensely grateful for all my friends. I’m just glad to be alive. As of his announcement, he’s without cancer but will likely need chemotherapy once a month, possibly for the rest of his life. He opens up about his cancer journey in his upcoming memoir Did I ever tell you that?.
Sam said he had a lot of support from his friends, but it’s unclear if he had his two children by his side as he processed his diagnosis. Sam has three children who have lived their lives completely out of the spotlight. Read on to know all the available information about the children of Irish actor Sam Neill.
How many children does Sam Neil have?
Sam Neill’s children were raised completely out of the limelight and did not follow in their famous father’s footsteps in the film industry. Therefore, very little is known about their lives. Although several outlets reported that he had two children, he had at least three. Sam has two adult children, according to the Daily mail: son Timwhom he welcomed with his former girlfriend, the actress Lisa Harrowand daughter Helenborn to his ex-wife, Noriko Watanabe.
However, due to his social media activity, it is clear that he has at least one other child. Sam became a grandfather again in November 2021, and he was neither Tim’s nor Elena’s child. The child belongs to Maiko Neill, whose Instagram page is set to private. However, her husband’s page is not private and Sam has tagged him in a handful of social media posts. Between the messages from Sam and the messages from Maiko’s husband, it’s clear that she is the mother of the pointed blinder the last grandson of the actor.
Maiko Neill
Maiko Neill’s age and profession are unknown, but she apparently supports the family business: Sam’s New Zealand winery, Two Paddocks. She has a link to a blog post from the Two Paddocks website in her Instagram bio, which asks winery staff to name their favorite songs. The blog post can be viewed here.
Sam announced the birth of Maiko’s daughter via a November 18, 2021 Instagram post in which he cradled his new grandchild, as seen below. “Love . I don’t put family in the media. Except when they’re brand new,” he began in the caption of the sweet post. “This is my brand new grandson Lost , best boy, 2 weeks. So cool, no fuss. Just eat, sleep and think about things. The parents are delighted and everyone is happy. Me particularly. Love…”
In February 2023, Sam took to the gram to share a photo of Nahlo with his father, Sly Augustine. Sly shared some photos of his bundle of joy and tagged Maiko, proving the baby boy is theirs. In fact, in Nahlo’s birth announcement, Sly joked that Maiko “produced” their son like the process was a movie production. “Introducing our son…Nhalo (nah-low) Wilson Neill-Augustin,” he wrote alongside a photo of his first child on Nov. 7, 2021.
“More than grateful for him. Beyond being happy to be a father,” he continued. “Everything is so different now, like the whole world changed the second it was born. Nothing will be like before, it will be so much better. Awesome (sic) to know so many dope daddies, you will all hear from me at some point”.
He concluded his heartfelt caption by revealing Nahlo’s date of birth. “World premiere October 29 10:52 p.m….” he noted. “Directed by @maikoneill & @slyaugustin… Produced by @maikoneill…”.
Elena Neil
Again, there is no solid information about Elena Neill due to her super private life and lack of public social media profiles. She gave birth to a baby boy in 2013, according to Express. “I recently had a new grandson. I say this almost as if it were a personal accomplishment, but in truth, grandchildren are forced upon you, whether you like it or not,” said the In the mouth of madness the actor wrote in a column for The spectator, depending on the point of sale. “He seems like a perfectly nice guy, as babies go. He is a calm baby, and calm is very much appreciated in people this small. And in fact I admire her wherever I find her…”
“This boy’s grandmothers are in complete foam for him and are quite unable to keep their hands off the little tyke,” he reportedly continued. “I’m not a big fan of baby cuddles right now… Anyway, this boy seems to be universally considered attractive. I have no idea, but I like its general calm. We sit and watch each other in pleasant silence; he sucks his pacifier and I my Pinot 2008 (wine). I like to be quiet too.
Tim Neil
There have been no reports of Sam’s son Tim having a child. However, Sam appeared to reveal that he has an older grandson named Felix McIntosh on Instagram. He praised Felix’s work as a DJ in two separate articles on March 5, 2023 and called him “The Prop’s grandson.” Sam goes by “SamNeillTheProp” on Instagram, so it looks like he refers to himself as Felix’s grandfather.
