Canada’s share drops at the close of trading;  S&P/TSX Composite Index down 0.42%

Investing.com – Canadian stocks were down at Wednesday’s close as losses in the , and , sectors pushed stocks lower.

At the close in Toronto, the fall of 0.42%.

The biggest gainers on the session were Element Fleet Management Corp (TSX:), which rose 13.69% or 2.45 points to trade at 20.35 at the close. goeasy Ltd (TSX:) added 12.86% or 12.34 points to end at 108.30 and Stella-Jones Inc. (TSX:) rose 7.76% or 4.27 points to 59.31 late in the session.

The biggest losers were Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:), which fell 22.79% or 0.80 points to trade at 2.71 late in the session. Nausea Corp (TSX:) fell 14.42% or 8.18 points to end at 48.55 and Endeavor Silver Corp. (TSX:) fell 14.23% or 0.80 points to 4.82.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising stocks by 539 to 403 and 114 remained unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX compound options, fell 3.49% to 12.98.

In commodities trading, gold futures for June delivery fell 0.26% or 5.25 to $2,037.65 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for June delivery fell 1.23% or 0.91 to $72.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0. 80 to trade at $76.64 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.75, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.07% to 0.68.

US dollar index futures fell 0.17% to 101.23.
